The original poster asked if it's worth it to move to Seattle? Well, I said, yes, it is worth it. It is my opinion. You also failed to realize the irony in my post, although I used smiley twice ! You are too serious, Jenny. My post was surely very short and did not contain any political or other analyses. I just didn't analyse. What I very often find reading forums, is the fact that people analyse so much, they feel paralysed and totally unable to make a decision. I personally would never ask other people advice. How should anybody know if I should move or not, for example? You see my point? There are enough people on this forum who overanalyse and contradict each other. That's good enough. I just said, yes, Seattle is worth a try.
I was unaware that two smiley faces indicated irony on the internet.

Now, you're too serious again, Jenny! Why don't you just relax? You know, winter in NYC is not exactly a gift, either.

There's more than enough Seattle to go around for those of us that love it. The rest can bítch about it until they leave or die.

(disclaimer: my use of emoticons carries no inference of sarcasm, humor, or any other subtlety. it simply is what it is.)

Okay, I will give you that. I did meet a few of his supporters this time around that were nutso. Obviously, my sample is small, but when I was in grad school, I found that the libertarians and conservatives in my class (and they were few) had the best senses of humor and were more fun to talk to. And you are right. I don't spend ANY time on political bulletin boards. City-Data is my only vice -- I am north of 40 - I didn't grow up with this stuff so it's a relatively minor part of my life.

Must be another cultural norm that is unique to Seattle.

2 more weeks, Jennibc, and you'll be a Texan again!

It is hog jowl, not mawl. I am southern, and have never eaten it, and I hate cheese grits. But, hog jowl is actually just that, the jowls ( or cheeks) of the hog. Stereotypes are useless.

It only rains something like 150 days a year. When the weather is nice, and warm and sunny Seattle is the most beautiful place I have ever been.
