My husband is a serious chocolate chip cookie addict, but doesn't like them with nuts. Where is the best place to get a nut-free chocolate chip cookie in Seattle and surrounding?

Some other places that are overly hyped:

Top Pot Doughnuts -- I was not impressed. What am I missing?

Cupcake Royale in Ballard. I was really looking forward to that lavendar cupcake that was supposed to be so amazing. But... yech. Their mocha cupcake was decent, sure, but it wasn't amazing.

Maybe by learning to drink coffee I'm shifting my taste buds to prefer bitter? I do plan to buy a turnip, for the very first time, tonight.

But seriously, I'm seeing a pattern of overhyping food and dessert in this area. There's decent stuff, sure, but nothing yet food-wise I'd call world-famous or incredible or anything superlative really. Open to suggestions to change my mind though. :-)

I agree with you 100% jenlion...these places are good but not all that. I like Top Pot doughnut, as I prefer the cake style doughnut, but they cost twice as much as other doughnut places...

And turnips are great!!! They're not all that bitter, and are really versatile and can be used almost every way a potato can...
But given the choice between a doughnut and a turnip, I'd still take a doughnut.

I think that those restaurants and bakeries that are truly superlative are not over hyped.

The following are my favorite bakeries in the area:

Hillcrest Bakery in Bothell
Borracchini's Bakery in Seattle
Columbia City Bakery in Seattle
Larsen's Bakery in Ballard

Another suggestion would be to check chowhound for bakery and restaurant recommendations in the Seattle area.
