Default Looking for a temporary place to stay for month of January 2009

Hello,

My husband and I will be moving to the Seattle area at the beginning of January 2009. We haven't decided exactly where we want to live yet as we would really rather check it out in person, but are leaning toward Kent or surrounding as my husband will be working in Tukwila. We would like to find a place to stay temporarily while we are doing our housing search. I have checked Craigslist and there are lots of possibilities although most on offer right now start sooner than we'd like, or else want a three-month lease. I am sure there will be more available as the time gets closer, but I don't like leaving things to the last minute.

I did a search for boarding houses in Seattle area and got a list although many of them were for the elderly. There is one in Auburn although that's a little farther away than we would like to be and I also don't know anything about Auburn. I found a Howard Johnson in Tukwila that offers rooms and suites with kitchens on a weekly basis. I am just curious if anyone knows of any boarding houses, other hotel/motels, or private residences that are offering rooms, suites or equivalent.

Thanks in advance,
Laurel

There's an Extended Stay network in Kent:

There's a Marriott Residence Inn in Tukwila. (There's also Residence Inn in both downtown Seattle and downtown Bellevue.)

If you wind up wanting to stay in Seattle, the Inn Apartments has 3 locations in downtown Seattle and one in downtown Bellevue --

You might also want to check rentals in the combined classifieds of the two leading Seattle newspapers. Click on the map for the area you want.

There are several Extended Stay America hotels in the area, the one on Main st in Bellevue is pretty nice, it's about 20 min from Tukwila - depending on the time of day. Extended Stay America Hotels - Affordable hotel suites for long term business travel, relocation or vacation
