If you mean will there be a large group of black people that I can associate with, in most cases the answer will be no.
If you want to know if you will be able to fit in, make friends, and feel accepted, then yes, a black person in Seattle will do just fine.
Seattle is a fairly liberal place... you will probably have a bigger problem with too many white folks trying to be your friend than not enough, particularly in middle-class parts of the city.

As I get older and more of my friends are settling down and buying houses or condos it seems like everybody is moving out to Kent or Federal Way. Even buying in Renton is getting expensive.

When were you growing up? When I was in high school, the only people I hung out with from Kent were black. That was early '90s.

I was in high school from 96-00. Maybe there were more black people then I thought out there at the time, it just didn't seem like it. I know there's definitely a lot more now.

Seattle IMO can be a good place to live. Out of all of the metro areas I have lived in, Seattle is my favorite. Everyone has different experiences, good and bad.

neighborhoods for biracial family
This is a very helpful thread. We are an ethnically mixed family considering moving to Seattle next year. What neighborhoods would anyone recommend for an urban executive family?

This is great. How about Queen Anne? What about public and private schools in these neighborhoods? Are all of these places pretty walkable? Thanks.

You will fit in just fine in almost any neighborhood you choose in your economic level. I would suggest though, that you don't buy the first 6 months or year. I know it's tempting when you see a bargin come along, but fight it. This will give you a chance to see which area really suits your family. Seattle is a collection of villages and each has it's own flavor. You just need to see what yours is going to be.
But regardless of where you live, you will find racially mixed families, even if not in large numbers, and I think you will find that people are generally more accepting here. While it is not perfect, Seattle is more progressive than a lot of areas.
