I was wondering which would be worse "fake" gangsters or "real" gangsters.
Just something to think about.

I still speak positively of Seattle. Not perfect, not without it's racial prejudice, but there are far worse places.

I doubt that is the same everywhere. There are some places in the country where races pretty much stick to their own. Doesn't happen like that in Seattle.
Around here, if black women are all over black men from out of town like white on rice, as the other poster claimed to experience, I think it's most likely going to be due to the ratio here of black men who mostly or only go after white women.

Wow. I find some of the things on this thread disturbing as well as interesting. I lived in a small rural town in Virginia until I was 18 and left for college. I am a Black American/African American or whatever people want to call me. My town was definitely not a utopia, but we did not have many of the racial tensions which are evidently being experienced in larger more "progressive" areas.
It also shocks me how some African Americans are talking about their own people. I feel sorry for all of you guys who were made to feel guilty about not being black enough. In my town we had all types. There were of course many wannabe "gangsters" who lived in the country or the suburbs and probably would have been running scared in the presence of a real gangster/thug. There were also many black people who didn't subscribe to that lifestyle and they certainly were not out of place. Everyone realized that most with the street attitude were playing a role. They knew when to speak properly and most of these guys were honor students and went on to college.
I guess for me race has never been a huge issue. It's a shame when you have to deal with racism at all in 2008. However, I prefer my racists to be outright. At least you know where you stand with them. I am moving to Kent in August and I hope my rose colored glasses can stay on!

You should come to Denver, it is more diverse. and to me it seems like way more african american population. even though it only shows like 3 percent more it seems like its more. come check out denver i think it would be better sorry seattle
The racial make up of the city, as of 2005, is 50.3% White, 10.6% Black, 3.1% Asian American, 1.4% Native American, 0.2% Pacific Islander, and 1.9% from two or more races. 34.7% of the population is Hispanic or Latino of any race. [33] 11.3% were of German, 7.2% Irish

Denver, with all due respect, the black population in Denver and Seattle are about the same. I highly doubt that it appears to be more in Denver than Seattle.
