I spent a week in Tacoma last year and had the opportunity to hit Seattle. While I saw more African Americans in Seattle than Tacoma there are still very few of them there relative to the overall population.
I even went to the "black" section (Rainer Ave) and didn't see very many blacks there.

Isn't that kind of like saying WSU had a better season than the UW?

That's what someone told me it was. I don't know if I got the street right or not but they did mention Rainer.

I'm black and have lived in Seattle since 2003. I think most places south of Seattle have lots and I mean lots of blacks. I lived in Rainier and it was a little too unsafe (I'm talking shooting and the like). Central District, too much crime too. I like Renton and Kent as they have many blacks but not very high crime rate. Federal Way and Tacoma are full of blacks; way more than Renton and Kent. I have never lived there but their crime rate is definitely higher than that of Renton or Kent. The East side does not have very many blacks but is much quieter, and in some cases more upscale.

Renton and Kent are nice in some ways but they too have their fair share of drugs, crime, shootings and robberies.

pwright you have a gift. I love to see pictures of Seattle because it is a beautiful place with, what is in my opinion, the most beautiful skyline in the world. I am an african-american from Seattle and I have found that while it is a city that is mostly white, there are many areas, such as Delridge, where I am from and live, where the black population is very high (I would guess 70-75%) and the asian, hispanic and caucasian populations make up the rest of that population in a fairly balanced way. And as for being the "black section" you could go to compton or Harlem or any other stereotypical "black section" and see white people and people of other races. I am from Seattle, from a black area, and I have friends of all races. I am really not sure what the relevance of people "being with their own kind" is since we are all humans. People should be able to coexist w/o having to look for an area where they are the majority and not the minority. If it truly is necessary to be with people of your own race, that is understandable. There are multiple areas of Seattle that have a majority of one race other than white.
