You know those are the best pictures I ever seen....pwright you have to be a photographer...ive lived in atlanta all my life...and really could use a change. Me and my fiance was thinking of moving to seattle....very very pretty. I am in the medical billing field...what are the chances of getting a job in that field?

Pwright, I grew up in the Central Area. Just got back from Seattle on Sunday. We are moving back to Seattle, and we have been looking at houses. I can't afford my old neighborhood ( my mother is still there, 40 years next year,in the same house that my stepfather bought her!). Anyway, love the pics! I can't wait to move back!

Dward417, I hear those jobs are in high demand here. You shouldn't have a problem finding a job. My photography is just a hobby. I do love taking pictures around Seattle. Oh, thanks for the compliment.

Westcoastdiva, can you believe all the changes in the Central District? Great area to invest in if you have the money. Its also great that your mother remained. Good for her.

I don't care what the pictures say, if you're from the south or out east you're gonna feel out of place as an African-American. Most black professionals I know who aren't from here are trying to get out. It's just not a place for blacks folks IMO. If i didn't have my core group of friends that i've met through my job, i'm not sure how i could have stayed here for 3 years. The options in terms of churches, entertainment, dating, etc. are limited compared to what you'll find in the south or out east. And being from in the northwest you're so far away from most major cities. Don't get me started on the cost of living here. Can you say OVERPRICED. It's a beautiful city though. But that's it. If you like to hike or kayak during the 3 months of nice weather here, seattle may be the city for you. But for me it'll be a place i visit friends during the summer. But I can't see myself living here any longer.

Hmm. I think someone who has NOT lived here most of her life would disagree with you. Seattle is quite unique.

Enough said.

Being black and coming to Seattle from D.C. it was quite an easy transition for me. I was actually quite surprised at the number of blacks in Seattle. Meaning, there were far more blacks than I ever expected. I didn't think THIS many lived here. Most of my black professional friends who moved here absolutely love it. Many are from NY, D.C., Atlanta and Philly. Seattle is not for everyone but I would definately live here over most major U.S. cities.

It is very true. I came from an area with very few black people and it feels like there a lot here (though I'm not black).

I'm black and I used to live near Seattle(Everett). My family and I loved it. I am more than happy to return to the Seattle area(I live in the Atlanta area and I'm not exactly enjoying the place that much).
