Place to buy live Dungeness?
I used to live in the Seattle area up until July, and will be flying back there to visit my parents over the week of Christmas. The only crabs you can buy here in Boise are the canned or pre-cooked frozen variety, and I'd like to buy a fresh one to cook myself while I'm there. I know they sell live ones from a tank at Uwajimaya, but last time I was there the price was running around $8 a pound. Anyone know what their current pricing is, or anywhere else you can get them cheaper?
Thanks.

Maybe not cheaper, but Mutual Fish on Rainier Ave is noted for selling the frershest and best seafood in Seattle.

What he said.
And remember that in seafood you really do get what you pay for. Cheap is just that. Fresh, sweet, flavorful and WORTH the effort to purchase, prepare, cook and eat -- quality is worth paying for.

As a chef I whole heartedly agree with allforcats,
IMO,If there is something you should always "splurdge" on, or at least not aim to always find the cheapest of is the quality of the food (including wine) that you put into your only body as fuel. Plus it tastes better and that makes a body happy!....
Oh I can just picture those Dungeness now.....yummmmmm!!
And its amazing how much you can save on your bill by buying actual food as opposed to processed, pre packaged, space age sealed "food".... I never can understand the mentality of buying stuff like salsa or guacamole, so much better fresh...and sooo easy. Just my 20 yen
Enjoy those crabs!!
