Default Recommendations

My boyfriend and I are thinking about moving to Seattle and I have a few questions:
1. How is the area gay friendly wise?
2. What is a good neighborhood to look for a apartment in?
3. Any idea about the job market for a CNA, and a someone working in Hotels
?)
Thanks

---Kenny

Hello.

I would say that most of Seattle in very gay friendly. Historically, Capitol Hill has always had the larger gay population. This area is arty ( I don't believe that's a word) and has Seattle University close by, so lots of culture as well. You would be close to First Hill ( pill hill) this is where the 3 major hospitals are located. I wouldn't think you'd have a hard time finding a job. A few other places to look at would be Ballard and Green Lake. These are all neighborhoods of Seattle.

For the hotel jobs.. I think living on Capitol Hill would give you great access to the hotels downtown and the healthcare industry. Queen Anne is beautiful but pricey. Heck, all of Seattle is.

Have you visited yet? Where are you living now?

Let me know if you have more ???!!!!

I live in a small (freezing) college town in Michigan. And I have not visited yet, but I plan on it this summer . I have probably 1 1/2 years until I graduate so I am trying to get a jump start on finding a good place to start my after-college life.

Well good luck with everything!!! Seattle is a big city now. It's not the small city I was used to as a kid, but it's a great place to live. You may also want to look in the Bryant/ Ravenna area as well. Zip codes are 98115 and 98105. This is one of my favorite places to live In Seattle. I miss that area. It's very close to the University of Washington ( Major hospital there) and downtown. Lot's of young people, hip too!

Good luck!

After living in a small town I think I am ready for a good sized city, its warm(er), and the crime is pretty low.

Climate here is definitely milder compared to Michigan but it IS cloudy/rainy more often. Did you consider Chicago at all since you guys are right next door already? Perfect place for a young couple like yourselves, unless you're planning on having a family already. Crime isn't so bad as long as you don't venture into the bad areas. Lots of mid 20's to mid 30's in the Lincoln Park area (gay neighbourhood around there too if that's what you're looking for).

Chicago is...crowded, almost three times the people of Seattle. And the weather isn't much better than where I live now. I understand the cloudy/rainy climate, and just to be sure I will visit before I think of moving. I plan a narrowing my search to a few places and visiting them all and then deciding which I like best. Seattle is only one of my options, but I am leaning toward seattle.

My vote is San Diego.

I would move there in a heartbeat if I could find a decent job there.

Redline, may I ask, what is it about San Diego you like? I'm looking at Seattle, but I'm looking at a few other places too.
