HA! More snowstorms -- and tomorrow's Port Townsend-Keystone ferry has been cancelled. NOT Bainbridge-Seattle. HA!

I will try and answer some of the questions regarding Bainbridge but if you want to send me a private message, I can give you more details.

The question regarding the ferry: Some people get tired of the commute...but some people get tired of driving into Seattle and parking. Each has it's problems. The thing to consider is how you are getting to the ferry in the mornings and then home again. Do you live near downtown and walk, take the Kitsap transit bus which is about $2 ea way and runs mornings and evenings, park in the ferry lot for $10 (no free public parking available if you commute in for the day), have someone drop you off, or ride share?
Welcome to Kitsap Transit

I love the feeling of coming home on the ferry and having that ahhhhhhhhhhh feeling of winding down and coming home to a sleepy little town. Some people (including myself) do miss having access to shops, restaurants, cultural options, etc. Bainbridge has all necessary items and Silverdale and POulsbo have more options but nothing like Seattle. It definitely is a small town.

We do get a bit of snow which can grind traffic, including taxis and buses, to a halt because of all of our hills and the ice that makes driving treacherous. Last year we were stuck in our home for 11 days (had no chains for the car). That is very unusual. We bought chains this year and of course had not one day of snow. I would think 2 or 3 days of snow where it sticks is far more normal.

PS: We do get power outages from trees coming down so that is always a chance to practice your camping skills.
Hope this helps...just one girl's opinion.
