Where do I move to if I own Horses?
My husband is getting a transfer through work to Seattle. We need to live in a suburb not more than an hour's drive away that we could own horses in. Does anyone know of a good area? I say no more than an hour's drive, because that is his current commute into Boston everyday, and he's used to it, but probably wouldn't be willing to pick up a longer commute unless we lived in somewhere wonderful.
Thanks.

There are actually a lot of areas within an hour of Seattle where people have horses. Woodinville is one, a nice place with wineries...Issaquah is another, such as the Issaquah -Renton border around Squak Mountain, which is gorgeous. Also the area around the Renton/Maple Valley border has lots of horses...
A lot depends on what your needs are, and how close you want to be to things to do, etc.

My first thought was also Woodinville. And Maple Valley. Parts of Issaquah, Renton. Or Bainbridge Island or Vashon Island, which would require a ferry to commute (a very neat experience!). Maybe around Poulsbo on the Kitsap Peninsula, more distance and also a ferry.

I grew up in Port Orchard on a horse farm. You can drive over in about an hr or take the ferry over. What about Woodenville,Bothell or Carnation?

Make sure you're near an indoor arena if you want to ride in winter!

There is a neighborhood called Rock Meadow in Sammamish off of 34th St and 212th Way SE. They have an Equestrian Center. I don't know if you have to be a resident or not but it's a beautiful area in a great location just a few miles off of I-90.

Bridle Trails in Kirkland is a horse community about a 15-20 minute drive from downtown Seattle, on the east side of Lake Washington in the suburbs...Be prepared to spend at least $750k minumum on a home there.
