High school sports in Shoreline/Eastside/Bainbridge
We're relocating to the Seattle area from Danville (Northern California). There are many things we like about where we live, but one thing we don't enjoy is the competitiveness & cost of high school sports. In order to play on the high school teams kids need to play club ball (several thousand dollars/season for volleyball or softball or soccer) and kids also have private coaches for hitting/setting/batting/pitching/etc. (this is true not just for JV, but also for freshman teams). There is also a charge (around $500) to play on a high school team. Is it similar in the Seattle area? Do most kids that play on high school teams have private coaches to help with specific skills (batting or setting)? We'd like our kids to enjoy high school sports, but would prefer not to have it be such a costly and exclusive experience. Thanks for any insight!
