seattle job market
I live in ct right now and its dead as can be here. My uncle lives in Ballard and invited me to live with him if I cant find a job in ct.
Im looking for ANY job. So far ive had ONE interview with a hotel which is the industry i have experience in.
My question is seattle any better right now? Anyone out there in the same boat as me?

"The state's seasonally adjusted jobless rate stood at 6.4 percent in November
.....December was a rough month because the state's Employment Security Department received a record number of new unemployment claims......Washington state won't report its December unemployment rate until Jan. 21, but it is expected to follow the national rate upward..."
Seattle feels nation's unemployment pain
I applied for a part time gardening job in December, and when the employer contacted me he said that they "had been inundated with applications."
Seattle does have its cheerleaders here on CD, but those are people with jobs.....

Hi Kalin. Here's the information you need, the combined classifieds of the two leading newspapers in and around the Seattle area. Search carefully, and you'll find your skills may be applicable to many different fields. I wish you well.

I like Simplyhired.com myself. It searches a bunch of sites at one time for your keywords.

If the CT job market is worse than in WA, and living with your uncle could drastically reduce your expenses, sounds like a good idea unless moving out here would be cost prohibitive. Best wishes to find a great job. Tourism seems down in general though.

Ill try simplyhired, but in all honesty a day hasnt gone by where I dont apply for at least one job, some days even more.
FYI-The only interview I got was from craigslist!
I act. moved from vail colorado to ct to live with my dad and work for him to save money for when I move to hawaii. The economy has hit him not really bad but enough where i cant work for him anymore.
Thanks for all the input!

My son works for a local hotel and they are cutting back on hours but you never know, maybe you'll be lucky. Just get on the phone and get as many leads as possible and don't give up until you have a job in hand.

I think I didnt make it apparent that I have been applying everyday! But thats the CT market. Its not looking good, and it must be terrifying for the "professionals" who have mortgages and kids.
Like I said Ive had one interview, im well qualified for the position and im not 75% sure if ill get it.
