Default Closest place to find the sun

As I am going on my trip to Seattle, I would like to find some sun. I don't want to be in the dark the whole time, so what's the closest place within driving distance.

Sea-Tac, to buy a ticket to Honolulu.

Actually, there are areas that have more sun within driving distance. One is Eastern Washington, especially around the Tri-Cities, the other is the area around Sequim (across Hood Canal, NW of Seattle, in the rain shadow of the Olympics).

What time of the year are you going to be in Seattle? We have plenty of sun in the Summer, it doesn't get dark until 10 PM.

I thought the San Juan Islands had 300 days of sunshine a year. Not true?

Not even close. In Friday Harbor during the Summer 80% of the days are cloudy or partly cloudy.

Makes sense...it just happened to be lovely when I was there (late July ha!) and a friend of ours who lives there tells us all the time how sunny it is there. Seems mildly true when you do a quick google which says 247 sunny days, but then you have the great debate of what constitutes "sunny". I have always heard to drive to Eastern WA but we have had some pretty good sun days in the winter just up on Snoqualmie Pass so we have never ventured further...unless we flew to FL, CA or TX.

If the pass is clear and we want big blue skies, we just hit I-90 and drive east a couple of hours. The Columbia River is something to see.

Have to agree!! If you want full-on big blue clear skies anytime from October to April, your best bet is to hop on I-90 and get east of the mountains if the pass is clear Once you're east of the Cascades it's a whole different Washington! West of the Cascades it's essentially rainforest, east of them it's high plains desert.

True, but it is most notable in June when often the Puget Sound region will be socked in with overcast, and it is warm and sunny just over the pass.

Here's our forecast lately: partly sunny, sunny, rain at night, sunny, partly sunny, repeat. Just stay in Seattle to find sun. I'm a little cranky due to lack of rain and all this sun.
