Default Advice? Looking for best deal airline to Seattle

Hi Everyone,

There's four of us and we need to fly from Sacramento to Seattle in early September.

Do you have a suggestion for the best deal on an airline?

Thanks!

Alicia

It might be too early to buy for a September flight, but check travelocity.com where they have a best deal finder you can use as long as you are flexible on your dates.

Southwest, with direct flights and often the cheapest, isn't on travelocity--only southwest.com. Travel tip: for other airlines, find the best route & price via orbitz, travelocity, et al, then book directly with the airline to save $10-$15 per ticket.

I've had good luck with kayak.com. It searches at all of the airline sites and the online travel sites such as Expedia and Travelocity. Once you select a fare, you are sent directly to the airline's web site so you aren't charged an extra booking fee.

Southwest doesn't allow the search engines to list their fares, so you may want to check with them directly as well.

You might want to visit the web sites of airlines serving the route you're taking and sign up for their internet specials emails. When the summer fare sales start you'll be notified right away before all the cheap tickets are sold. To minimize your hassles find a nonstop or a direct flight so you don't have to change planes.

If you're willing to drive to San Francisco to fly, Virgin has some of the best fares to Seattle, and they're a great airline to fly.

Just use www.farecast.com

It's a good, neutral way to find good deals and have them e-mailed to you. This searches all the major travel sits. It also aggregates a lot of the prices to form pricing trends so you know the best time to fly and when the find the best deals.

Odds are you'll be flying on Alaska to Seattle...
