Recommend a used car dealership in the Seattle area?
Hi everyone,
My wife and I are soon moving to the Seattle area and I will be needing to purchase a second car once we are settled. I'm looking for reputable dealerships with good deals on used cars (Hyundai's, Honda's, Ford's, etc.).
Any advice/knowledge on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

There is an "auto row" in Bellevue on 116th Avenue NE immediately south of NE 8th Street. The street has several dealers.
I have bought three used cars from Michael's Toyota, and I've loved them. They've been exactly what I wanted at the time. All three came to me from Michael's in excellent operating, sitting, working and looking condition. I grew up with my father having a specific used-car dealer forever and I learned about honesty, good work and trust in that relationship. I would say that Michael's Toyota in Bellevue has given me exactly the same excellence.

BTW, they have never tried to sell me anything more expensive, or newer, or fancier than I said I wanted. They also have a full-service service department, sell tires, the whole deal. Come my next car, I'll to go Michael's.

...And I'm going to put my plug in for the James G Murphy auction in Kenmore...For my needs, the best deals are on low mileage government suplus fleet cars that are boring as hell but reliable. I'm still driving one, 80,000 miles later with no problems, and it's so boring nobody would consider stealing it.
They have auctions about every seven weeks, and it's so much fun!

Check out platinumautos.com, in Bellevue. My whole experience with them lasted all of an hour 8 years ago, when I bought a new van there for about 80% of what many other dealerships wanted, paying their full (sale) price. It wasn't previously totaled either, AFAIK; I still have it.
Re Michael's Toyota, they're probably great, I have bought a used car from them, however one time when they were giving away hot dogs, a salesman got pissed that I test drove a car but didn't buy it, and told me I should return the hot dog I ate. I resisted the urge to comply!

I have a friend who lives a half-block from Platimun Autos: the "business" is actually prostitution. Certainly has looked like that to me, too. I would not recommend contributing to their coffers.

Seriously? You mean it's for money laundering? It would take some $$$ escorts to recoup my savings from buying there.
