People remember when they are wrong, but never remember when they were right.
I'm sure that's true. I expect weather forecasters to be right, and I guess I take it for granted when they are right...But when they are wrong, sometimes they are SO dead wrong that it becomes memorable?

This is actually right, and wrong at the same time.

You are right in that that these were indeed the number of days it was cloudy in these years. Seattle data confirms this, and this tells me even more that it is an accurate website.

You are wrong in that from 1999-2005, Seattle averaged about 175 cloudy days a year. According to you, the average is over 200. Statistics tell otherwise.

Last 2 years have had more cloudy days, and from what I hear, the spring was really crappy last year, so this may be the reason for the bad moods/ exaggerations. However, before that there were some years with up to 200 days of sunny/partly cloudy days.

I have never experienced this "spring". I hear it is a great time of year. I wonder if the legends about it are true.

My point is that Seattle doesn't get a true four seasons.

I'm in class right now, so I can't really get out and enjoy it at the moment.

I'm not a meterologist or a weatherman. Sorry if I came off that way or came off as a jerk or something.

It is just a pet peeve of mine. Weather is so much an emergent property and like fluid dynamics is impossible to predict (With our technology/knowledge) with 100% accuracy. The fact that we can do it approximately 80% of the time is a testament to our intelligence and always amazes me.

If somebody focused on the 20% they were wrong, I'd have to agree (though I understand why to some degree), but everybody always says they are NEVER right, blah blah blah. Or completely exxagerates the extent to which they are wrong.

Also, it doesn't help that when a meterologist says "Seattle is expecting rain at around noon" and only 75% of seattle gets rain, those 25% of people think the weatherman was wrong. No, weather is a general pattern. They can't tell you that at 11:27 at 5th and Central there will be a sudden downpour that will last 45 seconds. It just doesn't work that way.

Default Gloomy

The weather in Seattle is bad bad bad. It is dark and wet and monotonous. Overcast all the time.

I would guess it is sunny only about 25% of the time, and even when it is sunny and gorgeous I feel like it is going to end so soon that I get anxious!

I lived in VA before moving to WA 3+ years ago. VA weather is awesome!! 4 seasons, a little humid in July, but really amazing all year around.

I know people who actually likes the weather here in WA, so it really depends on the person.
