I've seen kettlecorn stands outside of Joe's and someplace else at the mall in front of Lowe's/Home Depot's hardware store. Lots of espresso shops, too.

I have yet to see a hotdog stand in Seatttle. Not saying there aren't any. Just saying I ain't seen one. I wish someone would open a Matt's Gourmet Hot Dogs around here. Man, those things.. they'll make you break your budget. OMG SNARF SNARF SNORGLE.

Matt's Gourmet Hot Dogs Menu

The (menu) link above shows some prices people are willing to pay for a really good dog.

I'm sure the city of Seattle has an abundance of various laws and regulations that would prevent any potential hot dog vendor from creating a little business.

Blocking a public walkway, health and sanitary hazards, vendor and business permits.....the city last fall shut down the last newspaper street kiosk in downtown Seattle demanding that the owner perform $20,000 of upgrades and renovations to his little newsstand. Yep, put him right out of business. RIP.

I know Capitol Hill had hot dog stand on Pine Street near Belmont. Was a pretty popular spot at 2am on weekends.
Not sure about Seattle's regulations but I know Tacoma just changed some laws to encourage more outdoor vendors and outdoor seating for bars and restaurants. There are 2 or 3 hot dog vendors outside bars in downtown Tacoma. I believe one of the hot dog vendors in Tacoma also just opened one on Cap Hill near Pine and 13th.
I am pretty sure I heard something awhile back about Seattle's mayor wanting more vendors and outdoor seating.

You should look for bar/club that doesn't really serve food. Even though they are supposed to to serve liquor, some places just have microwave dinners because they don't have a kitchen or don't want to deal with food. Or they just serve fried food that a lot of people don't order when it is busy in the bar or club. So find one of those bars/clubs in a happening area and ask them to set up outside. If they aren't already known for food it can't hurt the establishment to have a hot dog stand bringing people towards their bar.

I was just at Lowes and saw a hot dog/coffee stand inside the entrance. I think I've also seen one at Home Depot. I think you might do well at a hardware type of store since construction workers are always looking for a quick bite before they head back to work, not to mention the employees in the store and people shopping around their lunch time. Like others have said, I have never seen one in the city of Seattle.

Try the Edmonds ferry terminal. There are a couple espresso stands, but I haven't seen any hot dogs. People are bound to get mighty hungry during those long ferry waits.

Or near it... Could you imagine trying to work with the state getting a stand on their property? It would probably have to go out for bid..

Oh and come on people in Seattle who haven't seen a hot dog stand.. Have you not been out on Cap Hill (and I'm sure other parts of the city) after midnight on a weekend?

Love your idea and you are so right. Those lines get mighty long in the summer and it would be great to grab a hot dog while you sit and wait and wait and wait and wait.
