When I was 16 and learning to drive, the idea of taking a stick shift (my father* made me learn on a stick so I'd always have the skill) was frightening. But now, no sweat. Once you learn how your clutch works, it's no problem. You and your clutch are one.

I love me a stop on a steep hill now so I can practice my mad stick-shift skills, no rollback.

*My dad was fond of saying that you only really drive your car if it has a manual transmission. You don't drive an automatic, you point and steer.

I heard there is a law here like that, but it really isn't enforced. I know I've forgotten to turn the wheels and never had issue with it.
