Default Comcast phases in areas for converter boxes

Does anyone know the make and model of the comcast converter box that we'll need to get cable channels above 29?

The text and link below are from a king5 article

"For a while now, Comcast has said you're covered in the switch to digital. The problem is: you may need a cable (set-top) box if you want to get all of the channels. Comcast explains this as necessary in order to expand its digital channel reception and its high def channels. "

"Starting Tuesday, customers in the following communties will need the boxes: Enumclaw, Covington, Black Diamond and Cedar Downs, Mill Creek, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Brier Clearview, Buckley, Bonney Lake, Carbonado, Eatonville, Graham, Orting, Prairie Ridge, Roy, South Prairie and Wilkeson. "

I read that you get two boxes and if you need more then it's $3 a month, so I would like to check ebay to see what these boxes sell for.

If you know a way to steal cable that probably belongs in a different thread.

No, I wouldn't tell you how even if I knew, that's illegal. I was just wondering what exactly you were asking for. If you get two why not check the make and model when you get them?

Hey all, Anyways just wanted to give you a heads up. The digital migration is actually a very good thing it allows us to give you more channels and a higher broadband speed. As far as the boxes it is just a generic motorola box, that i dont think you can buy. Also you get 1 free dct and 2 dtas free. Now the dct will allow you to have the guide and on demand feature as well as all the other channels. The dta will just allow the higher freq's to be decrypted. After those 3 free boxes the charge is $1.99 per box. If you live in the north king/ south snohomish area feel free to email me and i can help you out further. I am a tech so i am very aware at whats going on in the homes. email is jaren-robert_hew@cable.comcast.com
