Nice idea if you have time. That would also include a ferry ride which your folks might enjoy. If you don't have the time to go to Port Townsend (sounds like you have an ambitious schedule!), something else to consider would be taking the Bainbridge Island ferry from the downtown Seattle dock as walk-on passengers. You could explore the quaint shopping area near the Bainbridge ferry dock, have lunch, then hop back on the ferry to Seattle whenever convenient. We do the opposite trip occasionally, taking the ferry as walk-ons from BI to downtown Seattle for lunch and poking around Pike Place Mkt, then return by ferry a few hours later. It's a fun trip.
