Question Places To Stay

We have decided to wait until we get to Seattle to rent a house,we don't really want to rent sight unseen.
So my question is...where are the cheap but decent hotels to stay in or around the Seattle area?

Have you considered looking on craigslist or hotpads.com for rentals?

We're coming out to visit for a week and a decent clean hotel would cost us at least $700 but we've found some bed and breakfasts and mother in law suites for the whole week for roughly $300-500 which was pretty awesome. Just a thought!

My husband is in the Coast Guard,so we are transferring and they give us the house hunting leave and money, and we don't want to rent anywhere sight unseen, with 2 small children I want to make sure I'm going to be in a safe area.
Thanks for the suggestions!

I stayed at extended stay America when I moved out here. I had a Uhaul with a car attached and no one messed with it. Other folks have said the one that I stayed at, up by Shoreline, was a bad area. I didn't have a problem with it. The price was right and it has a kitchen, a big fridge, a microwave and plenty of room.

Agreed-try to find an extended stay with a weekly rate. They will have photos online so you can get a pretty good idea of the condition of it. Also, check out Google Street View to get an idea of the area. If you need something within walking distance of places, etc. Most of the places include breakfast now so that can be a huge cost savings, especially if you "borrow" some food for lunch, lol. You may get a AAA discount at some places (I've found even the discount for one place can be more than the membership for the year!).
