I had a Sprint AirCard, before. Company provided. I didn't use it except for official (*cough, I spent 180 days in hotels in a year*) business. It worked fine for watching TV. Or downloading shows to watch.
The only place it really didn't work was on mountain tops. Pretty bad reception up there on those mountain tops. Here's an article about air cards.

I have no idea what it costs. I'm sure it's not cheap, when you look at the price for the card and then the price for your data consumption. I looked into getting some sort of satellite service before, but then Qwest offered DSL in my area, so I didn't really look into it that hard. I know there are services that will beam straight to a card in your laptop, or PC. Good luck!
