hah! NO shipping rates! WOOO!!!! I just placed an order about an hour ago. Free delivery once your order tops a certain amount. Or, for $80/yr, join Amazon Prime, and free delivery for $30/up in grocery delivery. I have zero time to shop for food or other things that come up, Amazon Prime is perfect for me.
Edit: Note that Amazon Fresh is a next-day grocery delivery service. Yes, it's still part of Amazon.com, but it's purely groceries. So, you're getting fresh produce, meat, whatever you'd get at the grocery store, delivered next day. No wait like for boxed-up Amazon.com orders. Safeway does grocery delivery too, but I haven't tried it.

Also, you can use Albertson's.com, a large northwest supermarket-grocer:

To get from any place to any place else in Seattle, you can take a bus or two. The public bus transportation system is called Metro. Here is Metro's system map, showing every route. Use the Front Side of the map. With a little practice playing with the site, you can find your way from anywhere to anywhere.

If you're feeling wealthy, you can also call Yellow Cab or Northwest Taxi and request a taxi to pick you up. Can't hail a cab on the street; they're dispatched. But you could pick off the first in line at hotels.

I hail cabs in downtown quite frequently. If they are not on a call they will stop.

From someone who grew up there-
The public transportation system there sucks, DO NOT sell your car

Shipping is free if you buy $75 worth of stuff. So, for you, that might mean using it 1-2 times a month to stock up on all of your heavy stuff, and then only using the local grocery store for a few things at a time.

In general, you can get where you need to go, but if you don't live close to the major north/south east/west freeways, you have to allow a lot of extra time.

I live downtown without a car and do just fine.
For groceries, I buy food in smaller quantities but go almost daily. I tend to get things fresh that way. I guess its more of a European-style grocery shopping experience. I tend to go stop by the bakery for bread, the butcher shop in the Market for meat, etc. and walk to all these places. I'll almost always run into friends and end up getting coffee with them or something. Beats taking your car to Wal Mart and stocking up and fighting traffic all the way home by yourself and eating your Ding-Dongs and crying in your Pepsi.
