I don't disagree with your opinion. I am sure there are people in Bothell who like it quite a lot. Coming from Issaquah, and before that, Redmond & then Seattle... it was quite an environment change.

You do have a point with the Mill Creek Town Center, which is why, in this, or maybe another thread - I said that it is a "nice pocket" area. The Center will do a lot for the area - I hope developers continue to change the look of Bothell-Everett Hwy, coming into Mill Creek from 405 - because that is the area, that in my opinion, looks dated and depressed. LOVE Central Market too.

I stand by my opinion, but don't deny that for some people - it may work just fine for them.

I have to respectfully disagreee with Jenbar. When you mention Martha Lake and the Edmonds school disrtict you are basically in Lynnwood. I know the mailing address is Bothell though. That area I agree isn't as nice. But where Mill Creek and Bothell come together is very very nice. Also, one of the elem's in the area is best in the state( test scores anyway).

I think it's the best alternative to the Plateau area. Any the zip code 98296 that borders Bothell and Mill Creek s super nice!

I was born and raised in Bothell and the Martha Lake area has NEVER been all that nice. Historically, Bothell and Mill Creek have always been very nice.

I would urge whoever considers this area to look at it! It's a great place to raise kids. I will say that the commute to Seattle is awful and your better off commuting on I-90 as opposed to I-5.

I didn't live in Martha Lake. I agree, that place is a dump.

That's where I lived! Literally on the other side of the road was Mill Creek. We were literally ON the line for the Edmonds school district boundary. There was no real justification for why we went in Edmonds rather than Everett schools. It made NO clear sense and has been hotly debated.

Obviously, we just have different standards, perceptions, opinions on "very very nice".

Jenbar - forgive me if I seem to be picking on you, I'm not . But looking at the boundary map for the Edmonds School District, the area that you lived in is outside the city limits of both Bothell and Mill Creek. It may have a Bothell postal address, but it is in unincorporated Snohomish County.

I'm not doubting your negative experience in the area you lived, but I don't think we're talking about the same area. It's actually not the middling point between Bothell and Mill Creek - that area is to the south and east (and I'd think of it as being primarily east of the Bothell-Everett Hwy). Your home was on the fringes of both communities and in the no-mans-land of Snohomish County.

Some places claim to be Mill Creek, but they're really not. Most of Mill Creek is east of B-E Hwy and anything up the 164th street hill would not be Mill Creek "proper". Bothell itself is sprawling - the "downtown" borders Woodinville - and there is a lot of difference between the north and south and in between.

As an Inglemoor HS graduate, I can say that Bothell was a great place to spend my teen years. My mother still lives there and it is a fine place to live.

I am well aware of it being outside of both the city limits of Bothell & Mill Creek... and it being considered "unincorporated Snohomish County". I have said that several times through out any post here regarding Bothell, Mill Creek, etc.

I am not talking about the Bothell/King County area. That particular area is generally pretty ok.

I am not sure what you are quibbling over (or in your words, picking on) - because I think I have been pretty clear in the area I was talking about, and have said exactly what you are saying (It being a "no-mans land" etc).

Yes, it has a Bothell address. Mail even gets delivered to that house if you address it as Mill Creek. No it's NOT in Mill Creek, as we don't pay Mill Creek taxes and can't use Mill Creek city park run facilities as a "resident" (Though the neighborhood has talked for years about being annexed in and YES, it IS in Bothell - as Bothell extends from unincorporated Snohomish County, into the "actual Bothell" within King County) - it's one street away from the west border of Mill Creek, as the welcoming sign as you enter into Mill Creek is placed near the strip mall west from the QFC (where MC grill is) and that is at the dividing line from the "North Creek Park" subdivision that I lived in. We were in walking distance to the Mill Creek Town Center, and exactly 4 miles in either direction from both 405 and 5. Just off 164th, and 3rd.

To give you a bird's eye view...
it's to the right, on the left side of the cul de sac - you can even see our blue minivan out front!

The city line for Mill Creek sits right in the top right corner, where you see the compass.

I know that neighborhood. It's right on the line for Mill Creek and Martha Lake. It is a little corner on the edge of everything - city limits and school districts.

It may be barely in the city limits, but living in that neighborhood, and being bused to Edmonds Schools is not going to be the same experience as someone who lived in a cul-de-sac off Village Green Drive with kids going to Mill Creek elementary.

I think you are right about the area and it's very helpful for people to know to watch out for it (we're relocating and I've been researching schools - that situation you had would be very undesireable!). But most of the north Bothell/Mill Creek is to the east of where you lived.

Ok, now I really do think you are just trying pick at me.

I never said that it was the same. In fact, several times, I have said that if you are IN the master planned community of Mill Creek, it's very nice and protected (shielded perhaps) from the older, worn area that is Bothell-Everett HWY, 164th etc.

... and it's not on the line for Martha Lake. Martha Lake is a good mile or two up the road. It is kind of on the corner of several neighborhoods and cities, though - in THAT, you are right.

Not really. That location really was considered "Bothell/Mill Creek". If you go east down 164th to Bothell-Everett HWY, that's just Mill Creek. If you go west, that's Lynnwood. If you go South, you head into May's Pond (which is just a subdivision not a "city") and Thrasher's Corner - again, a neighborhood. That's also Bothell... if you take a right down... (I don't remember the name of the street, but Fred Meyer is right there, if you are on BEHWY...) down there is the other end of 3rd Dr... which if you went through the forest, would begin in my old neighborhood.

I know you don't want to give a morsel to me... but really, that area is considered Bothell/Mill Creek.
