Default One night at an island around Seattle?

We are going to be in Seattle for 5 days during the first week of August and wanted to stay or visit on one of the islands in the area. If you were going to get to spend a day and night on an island or just visit where would you go?

We are a couple in our 30's, very laid back and would not want to spend more than 160 a night if we stayed. Like hikes on the beach, good food and historical sites. Not into really touristy things. We will have a car.

Was thinking of Vashon and staying at this location but are also interested in Bainbridge or any other recommendations.
Vashon WA bed and breakfast Inn near Seattle on Vashon Island

Any nice places to stay in Bainbridge that arent Hotels but affordable?

Or maybe we should stay in Seattle and just take a day visit? Any ideas would be welcome

Bainbridge is nice, but i havent stayed anywhere on the island. I actually have lived here 43 yrs and never been to Vashon.

A really nice place to stay, but it may be too expensive is North Shore Cottages on Orcas Island. Welcome to North Shore Cottages on Orcas Island

Its not a island, but Poulsbo has some really nice things to do, or Port Townsend across from Whidbey Island has a lot of neat things to do and great history.

Manressa Castle is great, or the Palace Hotel. They filmed A Officer and a Gentleman close by at Fort Warden, and The Tides Inn, they remodeled the hotel since the movie though. It doesnt look anything like it did.

Personally I love Whidbey Island and there is a lot of history there and a lot to do. It's also easy to get to from Seattle.

Whidbey will provide a greater variety of restaurants and accessible beaches and historic sites. I love Langley on Whidbey Island, but some here are more partial to Coupeville...Langley has a great Meditteranean/Greek cafe and also a wonderful pizza place, and wonderful old buildings overlooking the water.....Closer to Greenbank/Freeland is Double Bluff beach, where you can walk almost endlessly....Vashon's nice too, and I've heard good things about the Artist Studio B&B, and Vashon is closer too, but there just is something magical about Whidbey, and it doesn't take THAT long to get there from Seattle.

We decided to just do a day trip to an island/s and really appreciate the opinions you all have posted
Sounds like Whidbey island is the place to go!

So if you had one full day there what would you do?
