Mariners trade for Snell and Wilson
Ugh, I honestly don't like this trade one bit:
Pirates acquire five players from Seattle in deal for Jack Wilson and Ian Snell | pirates.com: Official Info

The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced that they have acquired first baseman Jeff Clement, shortstop Ronny Cedeno and right-handed pitchers Aaron Pribanic, Brett Lorin and Nathan Adcock from the Seattle Mariners organization in exchange for shortstop Jack Wilson and right-handed pitcher Ian Snell.

Gotta disagree with you, SonicsFan. I think it's a good trade. Jack Wilson is a great defensive shortstop who also hits well, and Ian Snell was awesome a couple of years ago and seems to be coming back, and I don't they gave up all that much to get them..These guys will help the team a lot next year.

I'll admit, I've warmed to the deal since I posted it, especially because the Pirates will pay all but 400,000 of the salaries of Wilson and Snell for this season. Wilson gives you an improvement over anything you've had at shortstop all season, and Snell gives you a reliable arm, who you have rights to through 2012 (club options for 2011 and 2012). I was concerned about giving up 3 young arms for them, but now I remember that we picked up two young arms in the Betancourt deal, including Danny Cortes (the #2 prospect in the Royals system, who pitched 6 innings of 2 hit ball in his last start). And then we picked up another arm in the Balentien deal, Robert Manuel, who was chosen as "Reliever of the Year" last year. Overall, getting Wilson and Snell basically for free for this season, and adding a good reliever in Manuel changed my tone on this deal.

It's apparently not the big deal the media is making it out to be, because when I called my kids' pediatrician (they are 8 months and 21 months), because my son seems to be exhibiting some symptoms, I was told unless they had trouble breathing or a fever over 104 for three days, they didn't want to see them. They told me there were prophylactic medications, but they'd only be given to children with serious medical conditions.
So I guess it isn't that big a deal.

I am really curious as to how it came about. Did he notice it being different than a normal flu? Are there different symptoms that made him think he should see a doctor? If so, what were they? I'd like to know in case I start feeling flu symptoms whether I should go see a doctor.

Yes and I personally think it sucks. I like our cool summers and day after day of sweltering heat is not for me. An occasional day around 90 isn't bad but this is too much. Go away heat, back to the east and south where you belong.

That makes me want to move back to Indiana (I lived in Indianapolis for 3 years during junior high school).

He's not sure where he got it from. His best guess is from someone on his bus commute, since none of his co-workers have been sick. On the fourth day of feeling really sick, and having a 102.5 degree temperature, he decided to go to the doctor. They tested him for Type A Influenza, which was positive, and the doctor told him that Swine Flu is the only Type A flu going around right now.
His symptoms started as a sore throat and body aches. He's had a bad cough, lots of sneezing, fever, and the general feeling of malaise that goes along with flu.
He was given Tamiflu.
My son started exhibiting symptoms and I took him to the doctor today, but was told that the health department had mandated treatment for only those with chronic health issues, so my pediatrician was surprised my husband was given Tamiflu. I was told to give my son some Tylenol or Motrin, and only bring him back if he ran a fever for more than 3-5 days or started having trouble breathing.
My daughter spiked a fever of 101.5 tonight. If she's still feverish tomorrow, I will probably take her in (she's only 8 months old, and was 7 weeks premature).
V. =)

Great and helpful info, SonicsFan93! Thanks! The Bluies just finished their first practice for today. Despite my personal indignation about the military-industrial complex, I really love the power and noise of the Blue Angels!!
Does anyone besides me have a secret place to go watch them all four days?
