What area is safe for hotels that are not so expensive?
Thanks.

How old is your son? That helps to determine our suggestions.
Also, what is he going to be doing while he's in Seattle? That also helps to determine our suggestions.
BTW, Seattle in particular and Washington in general are pretty safe, especially for the size of the city's population.

Hi and thanks for your reply. He's 28 and has always wanted to visit Seattle. He's into nature and photography.
I think I found a hotel for him and his friend on Roy street, supposedly near the space needle. It's the Comfort Suites, Do you know the area?
Thanks, again.

Yes, the area is fine, although in any big city he needs to be aware of his surroundings. Just take the usual precautions.
Nature and photography...there is only so much you can do on foot. Seattle, perhaps a ferry across the Sound, but anything else will require a car...(Mt. Rainier, Snoqualmie Falls, etc.).

Thank you. I think the hotel said the monorail is nearby.
I really appreciate your input.

I agree with everything poster pw72 said.
Yes, the monorail should be quite near, as it travels between the Space Needle and the central part of downtown Seattle. A very short ride.
Besides a ferry ride (for example, to Bainbridge Island, see this link
Washington State Ferries - Schedule: Seattle (Main) to Bainbridge Island
there are other Pacific Northwest flavors of ferries. You can find others on that WA State Ferries site, and here's one that's great fun, and includes a beautiful ferry ride, a delicious salmon and other seafoods meal, and wonderful scenery.:
Seattle Cruises to Blake Island | Tillicum Village Tours, Salmon Bake, Stage Show
Another possibility if he doesn't want to rent a car: Gray Line of Seattle, which does several really nice, comfortable tours -- including a full-day trip to and from Mt. Rainier, from downtown Seattle, just a few blocks east of where the monorail ends.
