I don't care for Seattle Bubble. But I think the author has a decent sense of humor, and clowning around online is always fun. Price of homes can not be measured as an average. Fact is, if you own an $800k home now, it's probably going to be worth $600k when the dust has settled. But depending on where you are, $200k or $300k homes are not dropping. In the neighborhood where I grew up, most listings in the last 6 months have sold within a few weeks at asking price, some higher. $250k-$300k range. Seattle Bubble doesn't find any humor in that so it's conveniently ignored. They focus on poking fun at misery, an old schtick.

You are very wise to this situation. I know from first hand experience. There is a strange situation where kids who live near Lake Boren / Newcastle are bussed all the way to Maywood middle school in the far reaches of southern Issaquah/Renton. This is very peculiar. The school bus system and boundaries are unusual in Newcastle. These things can change though.

Hi,
I grew up in Ballard but if I worked in BEllevue it would not be on my list.
If you are not a suburban type of person you need to connect with a Realtor that understands that each city and neighborhood on the Eastside has a personality of it's own.
You might try contacting Vienna Waale at Skyline. She would know and could help you.
Best of luck.

Wait a sec... what exactly are your problems? I think the conversation Seattlenextyear and I have had with Ira is perfectly civil and actually informative to you.

You expect everyone on a public forum to sing sweet lulabby and "oh sweetie you will find your perfect house with perfect school district within your budget" in your ears? Even if we do that, you will see the reality yourself when you start looking.

The city of New Castle only has a population of around 8000 I think (?). That's why the school district is split between Renton and Issaquah.

If people don't mind commuting, the price at Renton Highlands has crashed to a quite good price point. And Renton Highlands is also in Issaquah school district.
