I had forgotten about the Old Cannery, but I agree with the suggestion. Even the kids will enjoy shopping at that big and interesting place.

I was impressed this weekend by Hy Furniture on the Southcenter strip (by mens wearhouse I think). Lots of low cost decent quality furniture. That said, I didn't buy anything so can't vouch about customer service/delivery issues. But I can see myself going back for odds and ends in the months and years ahead.

I can't stand IKEA's stuff and most cheaply made generic big box store furniture. It's mostly cheap particle board stapled together crap from China. I look on Craigslist and there are some good consignment stores in Seattle. There are a couple of good ones in Ballard. I personally love real solid wood hand made furniture and antique Oak. I found a great guy on Craigslist who made me a custom coffee table and end table for a very reasonable price. This guy has a garage full of old antique Oak furniture and he will take pieces from different stuff and custom make something for you & varnish it too. Let me know if you would like his info.

I had amazing experience with Costless Warehouse Furniture in Tukwila. You can find a lot of items that u don't normal see around. they have a wide range a lot of formal and big stuff but also a large selection of what u see from store to store and some nice modern pieces. i purchased a sectional and ordered a sweet chrome modern style bar. very happy with all of it.
