Default More Moving to Seattle Questions.

Hey everyone,
First of all, thanks to everyone for this wonderful forum; it has really help me in planning our move. We will be renting for at least a year and have decided to concentrate on the north seattle neighborhoods. My question is which of these would provide the easiest access to buses traveling downtown? Or do they all have good access? My wife will be working at Met Park West (north end of DT I believe). Any major safety concerns? We currently live in Minneapolis, so we're used to the "normal" city safety concerns. Finally, to those with children, what does daycare typically cost (center or home based) and is it pretty available or are waiting lists common?

Thanks in advance for your help.

What a great question - I would like to know what daycare costs too.

How affordable would it be to get a University student to watch children in the afternoon?

My child went to Bright Horizons in Downtown, there's also a few more around. It is a daycare & learning center. I prefer those since I like a federally regulated and educated center. They have certain standards they must meet - plus nutritional guidelines. My son ate better there then most nights at home

Full Time Care: Babies/Infants $1550, my 4 year old was $1250 (per month)

PS Waiting lists up to year for babies is very common, for older children usually no wait.

Thanks for the help. Anyone know any prices for home-based daycare?

HOme based will always be less and it will depend on the person's home, experience and where they are located

but it should be at least 25 - 30% less

Nannies are big up here too
