If you're going to Puyallup from Greenlake, at best it's going to be 45-50 minutes or more, going at an hour with no traffic, depending on where in Greenlake and where in Puyallup. At regular commute hours, it could be easily an hour and fifteen minutes or more.

The I-5 access at Greenlake is pretty good. Puyallup may create an additional 10-15 minutes of commute time, depending on location. There was a WSDOT plan to run a spur from I-5 to center-Puyallup, but I think it is still a long ways off construction-wise. WSDOT has a lot of plans, but not much financing at this point.

Here's my little tip. If it's easy for you, hop on 99 South, get off at the Safeco Field exit, and get onto I90 at Safeco Field. That way you can avoid I-5 and the backups on I-5 due to 520 being backed up. It can take a while to get to I-5, depending on where in Greenlake.

If you go use 99 you might as well stay on 99 and until it turns into 599 and merges into I-5. There is never traffic on the 99/599 section of hwy. That is the way I go if I ever am going to/from West Seattle or Ballard/Fremont.

Let me understand...go south on 99, move over to I-90 south of the stadiums, then south on 405 (or did you mean The 5?) to the Valley (169 freeway) into Puy-town. Hmm. Might work on a perfect day. But it seems you would likely run into jam-ups on multiple sections of this route. But, heck, it's all a crapshoot anyway. More and more, Seattle drivers need to depend on the traffic reports to save up to a half hour or more. More and more like LA every year.

My apologies, I read this as Green Lake to Issaquah for some strange reason. I have no input on the morning commute down that far south.

Depending on where in Puyallup that could be a 50 mile (one way) commute. Greenlake to Puyallup is going to be a horrible commute, if you have to go anywhere near normal commute times that could easily be 90 minutes, each way, if you don't carpool.
You say you're moving here soon, why would you choose to live somewhere so far from work? And not only far, but through some of the worst traffic in the area.
