Some attribute the high suicide rate in Vegas to gambling, but the other gambling mecca, Atlantic City, has a very low suicide rate. The folks in Atlantic City may be extremely unhappy (especially after coming out of the casinos with a lot less $ than they went in with) , but they don't kill themselves. Who knows? Maybe weather is a factor. Vegas, Tucson, Colorado Springs, and Sacramento are the leading suicide cities, and aren't they all sunny places?

Hmm interesting. I'd not looked at Atlantic City. Good points though but don't tell that to the sun worshipers lol.

To say more precisely, weather is just one of the factors. In general, do you think people get more depressed in the sunny weather?

Weather does make people depressed. It has to do with the sun light, It gives us something that normal light won't give us. Can't remember what it was but you can buy special 'lamps' that will give you this. Sit 30 minutes close to one and you will feel better.

It's individual, some people need more of this than others. It's a reason people get more depressed in the winter, lack of light and such.

I actually know a few people in San Diego that you can say that about.

Yes, a few. You still insist that sunny weather depresses more people than clouds and rain? Just say "yes" or "no".

I've never said that nor will I answer any question from you based on an assumption, with all due respect.

Here's my theory, lame as it may be:

People are more depressed in places like Seattle, but it's the norm. People are used to being depressed, their neighbors and friends are depressed too, so they don't feel too out of place.
In a place like Las Vegas or Tucson, there are less depressed people than there are here. People have "sunnier" dispositions. So when someone there gets depressed,it's far from the norm, they feel very out of place and misunderstood , and are more inclined to commit suicide. Here, a depressed person might think " All I really have to do is go to Arizona to escape this funk, but I think I'll just have another latte and continue brooding", but depressed people in sunnier places don't have that escape option to a sunny climate.
