This has to be the strangest thing I heard.

If you're looking to live close to DT Seattle, areas like Georgetown, Rainier Beach is all I can think of. Or you can look the areas on Hwy 99, usually they're not too great.

Hey, the Rainier Valley is coming along quite nicely to fill the bill for you! The dude who killed 4 cops in cold blood was gunned down just a few blocks from my house. My house was burglarized 4 weeks ago and the neighbor 2 doors down just last week! There is a vicious gang war between the Central District gangs and the South Side gangs and you have an opportunity to be in the crossfire! My wife's car was shot during one of the turf battles right in front of my house. The police were running through my yard a couple nights ago in hot pursuit of someone. They are always nice about announcing on the loudspeaker of the cruiser to "stay in the house or you will be shot". The gangs appear to have the total upper hand around here, so don't worry about the police calming the area down any time soon.

Very colorful! Who are you? A fairy tales writer? A comedian? Or what?

No - I am a resident of Columbia City in the Rainier Valley who has seen my neighborhood turn into something I don't even recognize over the past 6 months.

Everything I wrote is true.

I don't find it particularly funny.

What I find funny is that someone would choose to live like this. Hey OP - I'm moving on Jan 1st. You want to rent my place? The two windows on the first floor that don't have bars on them are securely boarded, so you'll probably be fine.

Actually I knew some folks who thought it would be cool to live in a "challenging" section of Oakland, CA. Another wanted to hang out near the projects on the south side of Chicago. Some friends who went to Wayne State in Detroit lived in the Cass Corridor. Rich kids who thought it would be "cool".

I don't get it. But there is an element who desire this environment.

Not me.

theres not very much warzones in seattle at all. theres just mainly people obsessed with the pike place market and music. its really annoying. seattle never changes. rainier beach isnt even seattle its like tacoma and pyallup. lame areas that have nothing to do with seattle downtown.
