Default Moving/Shipping my stuff: How To? Dilemma!

hey everyone ...
excellent forum, just came across it.
My girlfriend and I are moving to Seattle next month (from Manhattan NYC. both are from Mississippi though). she will be attending grad school, plus, we are dead ready to get out of New York. i've forgotten what trees look like.

Anyway, the dilemma we are having is this:
We have sold all of our furniture to her brother that lives here in the city, and we are just moving with our clothing/personal belongings, and are just going to get new cheap furniture when we get there (moving costs would have been more expensive). so, we have a good number of boxes that we will be sending to Seattle. Our problem is that we are leaving NYC around June 17, going home to visit family for about a week and a half, and arriving in Seattle around June 26-27. does anyone know a service where we can ship boxes directly to Seattle, and they can be held for up to maybe two weeks, then we can go pick them up when we get there? (trying to avoid having to ship boxes twice). I talked to FedEx, and they can hold ground shipments for up to 5 business days at a location, then they get shipped back, and that won't be enough time. Mind you, there will be quite a number of smaller-to-medium-sized boxes, so things being held at the post office might cause a little frustration with the employees?

Any help or ideas would be great!

I'd go ahead and ship as much through the US post office as I could. I used to do it all the time when I was in the military.

I was wondering the same thing. Here in NYC, you can sign up for an account with the UPS Store, and have things delivered there in your name (it just costs money to pick it up, depending on the size). I'm not sure how long they can hold packages. I also wasn't sure if that was just a NYC thing since mailboxes are so small here. I'll have to ask them and find out how long they can hold things.

Only thing is I've heard so many horror stories with UPS.
