truth: yeah it rains a lot, but cities such as New Orleans, Miami, Atlanta, Memphis, Houston, New York City all get way more while other cities that you never really associate with rain (Dallas, Chicago, Cleveland, St. Louis, Washington DC) get about the same.
As a former resident of Everett,WA, I can attest to that. I remember many sunny days, and days when it wasn't raining. Atlanta does get more rain in Seattle, I can attest to this, especially since I remember it flooding last year in Atlanta.

One misconception that I see tossed around quite a bit on these forums by certain users is that Seattle's food scene is somehow lacking. To those people I say: try looking.

People feel like killing themselves because of the weather, and in fact Seattle has the highest suicide rate in the nation.

Ha, when my husband was younger (and skinnier), he had Bill Gates glasses. Whenever he was in a tourist-y area, people would always come up to him, stare at him, and then ask if he was Bill.

People worry about the rain but they don't think about the fact that we got much less daylight in the winter than any other major US city in the 48 except Minneapolis. We get almost an hour less daylight than most major US cities in the winter.

Seattle is the northernmost major city in the USA(not including Alaska cities). At 47.6 degrees North latitude, the northern part of Maine is on the same latitude as Seattle's southern suburbs. Factor in the event of foggy and overcast weather, the daylight seems even shorter.

Mpls on 12/21: Sunrise: 7:48AM, Sunset: 4:34PM
Seattle on 12/21: 7:54AM, Sunset: 4:19PM

Seattle gets the fewest daylight hours of any major city in the USA(excluding Alaska) in winter.
