Another one looking to move to Seattle
It looks like my girlfriend is moving to Seattle for work this summer. Here is the thing.........she wants me to move with her. I want to move somewhere else with her, but I didn't have Seattle on the top of my list. I have heard mixed reviews about Seattle, most of them are very positive but a few are negative. One example is the weather, it's not very sunny.
If I was to leave all the wonderful things that Raleigh, NC has to offer, what things should I expect out of Seattle. Can someone tell me the pro and cons of Seattle?

Hey, welcome, NC Guy!
If you've browsed the threads here at all, you'll have discovered that we've had some very heated discussions about the weather, the congestion, the schools, the good and bad neighborhoods, etc.
We all have our own opinions about the area. That's good, though. You can decipher on your own on whose opinions you want to believe.
We have lots of folks here who can express the pros and cons about the Seattle area. I'm anxious to see the responses you get.
If you have any specific questions, it would probably lend itself to more responses rather than just a general "pros and cons." So ask away. We're at your service!

It all depends on the person
Everyone here knows I hate the weather because there is no change of season and it NEVER warms up (for me) - I like Spring weather during Spring (70s) and Summers to be Summers (Hot!)
Too much cloud cover - I've become very depressed
BUT BUT BUT - I think 1) Men do better then women here and 2) if you don't have kids it's just a much easier city to live in
Just check it out - you never know - you might love it

We don't have a change in seasons? Spring is in the air. Temps have be in the 50's, 60's, 70's and even the 80's with very little rain even though it rained Sunday. The garden centers are packed, I see people working in their yards, people reading in the park. Have you checked out the Rose Garden at the zoo? Have you been to the new Olympic Sculpture Park? I'm actually heading out right now to take some more picutures. Shall I come and get you Citygirl?
Anyway Mspin24 if you've never been you need to simply check it out. I've been to Raleigh and its a very nice city and you probably will get homesick, but I said the same thing about D.C. and I'm still here in Seatte.

I was in Sac this weekend - I hear it was thunderstorms and blustery in the 50s in Seattle- It's been in the 70s and 80s ALL month in Sac (not just a couple days here and there - but for the last three months!)
I went from sunny beautiful 85 degrees with a nice spring breeze and flew in Monday to stormy black clouds and 55 degrees
Don't let them fool you - the "nice" days in Seattle happen yes - but not all the time - they are just "here and there"

Well if you're looking for seasons CityGirl, California is the wrong place for you. I'm sick of generic 75 degree cloudless weather. The sun bugs me since it's so bright all the time. It is a pretty comfortable temperature all year round with no seasons AT ALL. Seattle is much closer to having seasons than us, at least it occasionally snows up there.
I enjoy our temperature, but the weather bores me. It never changes. I pine for rainy days (not joking).

Depends on where in Calif you are - doesn't it?
I lived in So Cal (Santa MOnica, for a bit) and you are right - it's never ending 70s
My best friend was just saying the other day that made her go nuts too

From what I can tell the "best" place to experience seasons is the East Coast. I enjoy seasons except the snow...and most places with clear-cut seasons tend to get very cold in the winter so I avoid them.
Snow is cool but it is usually too much for too long while being way too cold.

My inlaws said it was in the 50's and grey for the last few days. I did see it get into the high 60's, maybe even 70 last week.
There is no denying there are nice days there.... sometimes.
