I was trying to move into the nicest apartments I could find in Lynnwood and they said they would accept that so I don't see why any others wouldn't! Hope it works out.

I couldn't find a great way to put that, I hope you understood what I meant.

Would another way to get an apartment (without an immediate job) is to pay for 3-4 months up front along with the deposit? That has been my plan when I move to Seattle in case I don't find a job before I move.

I doubt a company would refuse the first three months rent but the only way I see them accepting you without a job is if you are only getting a three month lease. You either need a job or have enough savings to cover your entire lease. So basically you would still need enough to cover the entire lease but they would probably allow you to pay up front if you wanted to get the money off of your hands.
Most places require a six month lease but I'm pretty sure I've seen some places that offer a three month. Remember though the shorter the lease the more expensive it is per month. It usually isn't a huge difference but it is enough that you would want to keep that in mind. Companies will always list and tell you the lowest rent price, A.K.A. the cost of rent on a one-year lease so be sure and tell them you are specifically looking for a short-term lease.

Thanks guys. I'm doing the same as most of you. I have a little savings and will tend bar if I have too till I get something of my preference. Anything is better then living in New Jersey. I'll take the overcast days any week over living here!
I appreciate people without an angle/looking to get over on you. Too carry on for one more point about NJ Ive seen most people here in 1 of 3 catagory's. Some even possess all 3!! Everyone is worried, everyone is drunk, and everyone lye's!! I'm quite excited about starting my life with my daughter (of 12 ) in Wa.
Thank you for the input and "please" dont stop!!!

I don't have a huge savings so I have to have a job when I make my move. I will be hitting Craigs list, Monster and Hot Jobs before I make the move.

Many of you guys are long time wanna be in Seattle types, so I know you've read the posts about how expensive it is in the area. So to move here without a decent paying job lined up?? Not a course of action that I would suggest.
There are jobs here, but not a lot of good paying ones. My wife and son are still in the area, but I'm on a temp job in the midwest due to it's being the best paying job that I could land with a good future.
I'll be moving out of WA completely soon enough.
If you are single and can get by on little income, come here and find a job, but if you are married or have kids, I can't say the same.
Good luck to all, I'm going through the same type thing, move to an area with or without a job. Only difference is that I'm leaving the area that you are coming to.
Take care,
Tony

Not married but have a 12 year old daughter. I will have a little money in savings to keep me afloat for a little while. I just graduated tech school a year ago and am struggling, but it's to be expected rite out of school. (Tech) If i'm gonna struggle I mite as well be happy where I'm at and tech jobs can be had in Seattle just like here. And I believe it will be a plus for my daughter there.
I'm 90% sure I can do it.
