Back in the 1980's King County (The Seattle area) was renamed Martin Luther King County and is one of the only counties in the USA named after him.

Still just "King." But it references Dr King rather than who it referenced before. I cant remember who the guy was, though. Meh...its just a logo in the end.

The county was formed out of territory within Thurston County on December 22, 1852, by the Oregon Territory legislature, and was named after Alabama resident William R. King, Vice President under President Franklin Pierce. Seattle was made the county seat on January 11, 1853.[2][3]

And we're just waiting for the East side to become Cedar County..... we need to get Seattle out of King county.

I wonder how many millions were wasted on the name change. MLK Jr was used as a feel good vote, and no one would dare vote against it, it was stupid.

Why does Seattle need to be out of king County?
