I'm not sure many Vancouver residents would endorse such a bid after the 2010 fiasco. Lots of broken promises and p-o'ed locals.

I think it's highly unlikely Vancouver will get it again so soon.

I also do not think that Seattle residents would want it either. We simply don't have the real estate anywhere close to Seattle. Now if they built it closer to say Marysville or north of there, yeah sure.

But then there's the obvious "glam effect" that the city would try to foist upon the residents, cost overruns, near police state security, and all that garbage. The city doesn't need validation that we are one of the best cities in the world to live in. The evidence is already there in how Seattle has helped shape the world through business, art, culture, etc., even if the rest of the world doesn't realize it. We're the "quiet city," to paraphrase an old commercial of Northwestern Mutual being the "quiet company." And I do not think that the majority of city residents want to change that. We're not loud, boistrous, and full of pomp to think that we need a Summer Olympics. We're already world class, we don't need more verification of that fact.

Feelings aside, I do not think enough time has changed since the last failed Olympic bid in Seattle for people to trust one again.

I don't know if Seattle can handle that sort of thing. After the whole W.T.O. and our mini "Mardi gras" a couple years ago, that's just asking for trouble. SPD can't seem to anything right; there's an up-roar when they do something and there's an up-roar when they don't do something.
