Ok hunny, first of all, me coming from a REAL city like Chicago, I must say that Phoenix has the LOWEST education standards in the US. Are you that naive to see that? The stats are out there... Lets get real boo boo!

Thank you for all your help!
Hello Reinking Family

I am relocating from Phoenix to Seattle as well, more than likely in Jan. I would strongly suggest buying two books...I got both from Amazon.com

1. Newcomer's Handbook for moving to and living in Seattle. Including Bellevue, Redmond, Everett, and Tacoma. Its the 3rd edition and its from 2007 so its current! No one author but is published by First Books.

It is a GREAT book. It gives you some Seattle history, a break down of all the seattle neighborhoods and some surrounding communities. it also gives tips for finding places to live, moving and storage, getting settled, helpful services, childcare and education, cultural life, sports and recreation, PARKS AND BEACHES, and MUCH MORE!!!!!!! it has given me a lot of insite and should you too!!!

2. NFT SEATTLE (Not for Tourists Seattle) 2008: It just was released on the 15th, first edition for Seattle. I lived in Chicago for a while and have a couple Chi editions and LOVE the book. I am so excited to recieve it. NFT is wonderful...gives you maps and a ton of great info, including restaurants, banks, and other places you need to know. I should be recieving my copy any day....so if you want more info on this book let me know!!!

But if I were you, definatly get both!!! ASAP!!!

OH AND I TOTALLY FORGOT....another REALLY COOL HELPFUL BOOK....
3. Top 10 Seattle. this book I got at like a borders or something but im sure you could order it on amazon too bc now that i think about it i actually got it in MT not here in PHX. anyway, its a great book too....its has the 10 best restaurants in each area, 10 best loveliest lakes, gardens and parks, 10 most fun places for children, 10 best shopping districts and markets, and many more 10 best!!!! its more of a "travel guide" but still....when reloacating somewhere and you want to explore its still great!

SOOOOO true....another reason I cannot wait to get to Seattle!!! Born and raised in AZ, it has just worn on me. Its true that AZ is very very very brown, dusty and hot. I dont mind rain or drizzle or cloudy days. I dont need to see the sun everyday of my life. I suppose it is just a matter of personal preference. Going from AZ to WA is not be for everyone. Some people like the rain so it wouldnt bother them as much as some others. I'm looking forward to an actual downtown and culture. As far as traffic...I'm sorry but traffic in PHX IS BAD. Your going to have traffic in any major city you go to and PHX has NO public trasportation aside from buses. Yes the lightrail is coming...but when?! Traffic is traffic.
