The problem is, is that most of the areas around the airport are not particularly safe. Why close to the airport, if we may ask?

Most, if not all, of metro Seattle is within 1 hour of Seatac Int'l Airport.

Believe it or not, the city of Seatac is safe. I've lived here for 18 years and and walk my dogs at night every day. Watch the local news and you'll see most serious crimes are happening, in what some consider, the safe areas of the Seattle & county.

We like the close proximity to the airport and shopping and freeway acess. Large lots are still available, but dissapearing fast. Some like that Light Rail is coming in a few years.

Well, that's my 2 cents. Is it getting better the past five years? Like most places, it's overpriced and is seeing in influx of new residents...and out with the old.

There is a very nice over 55 community called Huntington Park which is located at 248th & Marine View Dr in Des Moines and within walking distance to Saltwater State Park. It is about 5 miles south of the airport. There are single family homes & townhouses there.

I have lived in this area since 1989 and feel totally safe. For some, the one downfall may be the airplanes flying over but you get use to it. Most of the homes in this area have had the Port sound & insulation package done which reduces the noise.

The marina is really close by and there is a Anthonys Homeport, Red Robin and Wally's Seafood all on Marine View Dr.

I hopes this helps and good luck with your search.
