Well, if you have a driver's license over where you're from-- you could use it here in the states for up to a year.

But... I highly doubt you're going to find a state here that will easily let you get a driver's license without a (declared) residence. It doesn't work like that here.

Though, I'm curious-- did someone tell you it would take 6 months to get a DL in NY or what?

Yes someone told me that. I stayed in NYC for 3,5 months last year. But also they told me i can get it in Chicago. but i dont know anyone from there

I was curious, so I looked it up... as long as you pass the written test, driving test and vision test (like here) with all the proper IDs, papers and residency, you should be able to get NY-DL then. It doesn't seem to be a waiting period in between tests.

We do have someone on this forum who is from NYC-- His s/n is NaturalUrbanBalence ... perhaps you can ask him.
