Hey! I recently relocated to the Seattle area and am searching for an apartment. I am looking dowtown between 4th and 1st and was wondering if anyone had any interesting opinions on the pioneer square area??? Also, does anyone know about any sweet monthly parking deals in or near the downtown area? I will not be needing my car on a daily basis but would like it to be accessible when needed. Thanks for your input in advance

You might as well get rid of your car. If you need a car, you could do something like the zipcar.

There was an article in the PI recently where they talked about some families are moving to Pioneer Sq. Pioneer Square: A good place to raise kids? (http://www.seattlepi.com/lifestyle/419159_sm20100412_0p212a2077.html - broken link) Maybe in time, that will help clean up Pioneer Sq.

Pioneer Square has some apartments and rental lofts throughout. You kinda just have to walk around and look. I know I've seen some advertised online before, too. Oh, I know theres apartments around 1st and Cherry and theres a taller older white building nearby around 2nd and James but I forgot the name.

Also check out the Quintessa apartments on Yesler. Theyre new and rent-controlled. I think you have to make under $35k a year or something to live there.

Thanks Inkpoe, that was very interesting article. I really think I am just going to go for it and live there. I am single, its pretty cheap and close to where I need to be. As for getting rid of my car that would be a good idea. I am not going to need it if I live in the city!

The Metro system can get you around the city better than any car.

I moved to downtown Seattle about 3 weeks ago, and have only driven my car about 4 or 5 times. I've been able to walk everywhere, since everything I need is within a 10-15 min walk from my place. I'll probably end up selling my car in a few months as well.
