With all due respect to everyone (and I mean that), trying to pin this on Obama is purely ludicrous.

First, in the long run it doesn't whose "fault" it is. The only thing that matters is whether it does or does not happen, and what we do about it.

Second, many of the economic problems we're experiencing today have their roots in the Bush II administration. Why? Because he set them up to be paid off by his immediate successor, regardless of whether the successor was Obama or McCain.

Third, some of the causes have their roots in the Clinton Administration, and

Fourth, a surprisingly large number of them have their roots in the Reagan/Bush I administrations.

By the way, don't EVER let anyone try to snow you about how "Republican" Reagan was. Under his leadership the federal government grew to be larger than under any other President in history. Interestingly, Reagan's first runner-up is Bush II. If you have trouble with this, all ya gotta do is look it up.

So, and again with all due respect, cut out the finger-pointing, name-calling and blaming, because it is nothing more than lazy-thinking political bullsh*t. In plain and simple terms it is erroneous, divisive and altogether unhelpful. As such, IMO, it has no place on this Board. If you still want to post such things, may I suggest that you divert it to the Political boards.

Regards,

Trust me, if this country were to collapse it would still be 10 times safer and more stable than Mexico ever would be. Say what you want about this country (U.S.) but if you were to get murdered at least over here people give a damn enough to at least investigate your death. Unlike in Mexico where if you die, more than likely they'll just stack your case upon bunch of other files.

exactly.

what the hell? he wants to move from USA to Mexico for a better life?
it's crazy. usa is not going to collapse. absolute worst scenario - we become less relevant in a global world. same thing happened to UK hundred years ago but they're still doing 100 times better than the average global citizen.

what's wrong with this forum.. everyone is just waiting for some apocalyptic event to happen. is your life that bad?

EXPECTING to become a third world country? Obviously, you have not had the occasion to contact *anyone* on the telephone lately. *if* you can find someone who knows what they are talking about, they are on vacation, or in a meeting. They will never call you back. You will never find the answer to your question or talk to anyone who is competent, capable or even intelligent for that matter.

Here in the USA we have utilities who fail when you need them the most. In the winter people die from power outages and freeze to death. In the summer, people die because they do not have enough electricity to run air conditioners.

Medical mistakes and accidental overdoses of prescribed medication kill more than 100,000 people every single year. Automobile companies could build cars that are safe in a collision but choose not to because it would lessen their profit margin.

Food on the shelves at the grocery store is laden with chemicals and other toxins that build up in our body and cause cancer and a plethora of other illnesses. The "government" does nothing. In fact, they ENCOURAGE these companies by providing them with tax breaks and other government funding.

At least in Mexico you can plant an avocado tree and fish in a lake without a permit and live life without having to deal with the insanity that we do here. America is already a third world country. It just doesn't know it because they haven't announced it on Fox News yet.

Let me add to this, please. Contrary to what we've been led to believe:

1. The good ol' USA does not have the world's best health care -- we rank anywhere from 37th to 40th, depending on when and by whom the ranking was developed.

2. Each and every day in the US of A, the gap between the HAVEs and the HAVE-NOTs grows larger, primarily due to the continuous assault on, and rapid shrinkage of, the middle class. BTW, that's the class that you and I belong to -- or once belonged to.

3. Though we produce a whopping percentage of the world's food, the US of A doesn't have access to the most nutritious and healthy food -- we rank somewhere in the 50's.

Are these disturbing facts due to our politicians? Not really, though their culpability goes back for better than 40 years. [Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II] The fault can be directly attributed to (which, btw, are easily documented and proven) the fact that our economy has become so obsessed with the pursuit of PROFIT, that everything else is largely ignored.

Consider, for example, the common tomato, the ones we all see in our supermarkets. They have been carefully engineered to maximize their ability to (a) withstand the automated picking processes (b) tolerate shipping and handling, and (c) turn red just in time for display in our grocery stores. In short, they've been engineered to maximize their profitability. As a result, the tomatoes we find in the stores are round and firm and fully packed. They look good, too. Unfortunately, they have the consistency, taste and nutrition of styrofoam. If you have consumed said tomatoes in the past 8 years, you know exactly what I mean.

We accuse the People's Republic of China with such travesties, but we never stop to consider that US companies are doing much the same thing. (After all, from whom do you think the PRC used as role models?)

If you chose to live off-grid in some remote town, Alaska then yeah that could happen to someone.
I never had or know anyone who was having problems with their utilities..

right, that happens but those numbers are high in every modern nation.
In most occasions, our healthcare is the most advanced in the world.

Doubt it. People would sue billions out of those companies. Many cars on the road are foreign, who do you blame there?

fine, so the average american is clueless about everything and he slowly kills himself with sugar and cholesterol. That doesn't mean anything it's just that we have many idiots who don't read labels.
I agree that tons of food items are stuffed with chemicals that are supposed to replace flavors at fraction of a cost, but it's not like we don't have options...
shop at organic stores, foreign stores, or just read the labels and be informed!!

Government does nothing?? I'm all for them doing something, but you all know how Fox News would play this out - "Government is trying to control what we eat!"... that would never work.

what stops you from moving to a rural area and doing all those things.
Third world country?? Have you been outside your small town, Mississippi? Because that's the only way I see how you could think that america is a third world nation...We gets millions of immigrants(not just mexicans) who are dying to live here!

To be an American and go live in Mexico you must provide financial information as you have to make so much money a month so you dont become a burden to the country!

I suppose you could sneak across the border and try to blend in with the locals.

Seriously. This country of course has its flaws but like you said, in worst case scenario its global influence just becomes less relevant. As for Mexico, if some international cataclysmic event were to occur, it'll going from its chaotic state its in now, to hell in a hand basket. No place in Mexico will be safe.
