And the best part is - Aurora borealis tonight on my back hill!
Here's hoping the predicted clouds don't obscure the view!

I've been having trouble getting an AT&T signal on the cell phone and land line the past couple days. I have little doubt they'll still bill me.
I had my internet (through ATT) go down twice in 48 hours, but hadn't connected it to solar flares.

I've had lots of cell phone coverage problems the past 2 weeks.

Ok, that's just too cool! I've only seen that once in my state in my whole lifetime.

Well I've not had Hughes go down at all, so it's probably unrelated to Solar activity. Up here at 65N we have a ~20k mile trip to the bird, and it's only a 1W transmitter, it doesn't take a lot to swamp that signal...

Well, we sat.. and sat... and waited in the absolute silence... but the clouds covered everything.
The cows and horse were completely unimpressed.

We had the same thing happen to us in the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota back in '95. We got to see one quick flicker before the clouds completely closed in. We had little left to do that night other than communing with the 'skeeters and the loons (the birds, not the people).

By the way, when we got back from this trip, I looked up the Choctaw word for "loon". Its Okchalami Chieto, which loosely translates as "big water-screamer".

It seems my internet problem may not have been flare problems after all. AT&T has had trucks with men working underground about two blocks from home for a few days now. It must be a hardwire problem in the neighborhood.
