IF anyone here is old enough to remember the race riots in LA, Detroit and many other cities, its not hard to see that a "zombie apocalypse" is not an unrealistic scenario. Tons of people totally dependent on government, then no govt. checks. Just check out some of the videos on You Tube that were made when some folks SNAP cards didn't work recently.
I'm not sure why people consider it implausible. There are already diseases that turn people into zombies, and there's a good chance people are working on weaponizing them.

Unfrtunately, there are already weaponized people like that called suicide bombers.
According to CDC director Ali Khan, "If you are generally well equipped to deal with a zombie apocalypse you will be prepared for a hurricane, pandemic, earthquake, or terrorist attack."
After presenting that statement, the website goes on to provide information on what the CDC means by "well equipped to deal with a zombie apocalypse." The CDC's idea of being well-equipped does not include, for instance, chain saws and shotguns.
Military war colleges have these exercises as they train officers likely to be promoted to high rank. A quarter century ago a Navy officer wrote a paper about whether military troops would fire on Americans in the event of civil strife. That paper is still studied today and referenced as the present administration purges high ranking generals who are unlikely to fie on American civilians.

A Navy officer taking a civilian graduate course wrote a thesis for his course. That was it. He also included some confidential military information in the thesis, so the military snatched it out of circulation. Nobody is studying it, and it's false that the present administration is purging any high ranking generals for that reason.
Senior military officers and the permanent Executive bureaucracy expect to have a much longer careers than that of any given president. They are not going to fall on their career swords for such controversial actions by this or any other president. If the president were to order such a thing, the generals and the permanent Executive bureaucracy would put their heads down, drag their feet, and call for Congressional air support.
Ummm, the military has "fired upon" US citizens before. I wouldn't speak in absolutes here. I don't think we can say what the military is and is not willing to do. It depends on the situation.

Well, yeah, it does depend on the situation. If civilians in cammies start firing from trees and rooftops at troops, the troops will fire back.
If Aunt Bee, deputy Fife, Gomer, Goober, and Sheriff Andy are standing resolute in the street, the troops are not going to fire at them.
Heck, even the Soviet Red Army refused to do that when they were so ordered in the last hours of the Soviet Union. So did Ferdinand Marcos' Marines (I was there to watch that one with my own eyes).

when the preppers who visit the conspiracy forums who have their heads in the air and think they are better than everyone else talk about 'zombies' they are talking about the average football watching, beer drinking, text messaging 'zombie' who is a 'cog in the system' and doesn't have awareness of these 'grand conspiracies' that they know to be true.
In reality there is no conspiracy, and by believing in one you actually empower them. So get off the high horse... the people with families out there living and loving have a much better life than you, in the basement with your stack of guns and canned goods waiting for something that will never happen. Plus a lot of them conspiracy nuts... literally spend all day on the internet in some of them forums... they never leave their computer and get caught up in every little event that goes in, pinned threads advertising doom of some sort every day, and we are still here. I have to laugh at it sometimes.

What, Exactly, IS a "Zombie Apocalypse"??
Plus a lot of them conspiracy nuts... literally spend all day on the internet in some of them forums... they never leave their computer and get caught up in every little event that goes in, pinned threads advertising doom of some sort every day, and we are still here. I have to laugh at it sometimes.
