"Follow the science" unfortunately scientists and labs don't always instead they follow the money. Seeking out true data on water filtration not just the claims is brain taxing.
I am only going to tell you what I see about non electric portable filtration because in my opinion that is the only kind that matters in a emergency. The most effective filtration units are home installed or electric but that won't work when city water and sewage along with electricity is compromised.

But the truth is none eliminate all virus, none eliminate all human made contamination. The best thing is still to boil the water and use chlorine or iodine AND filter the water also. For portable use I would get the life straw and life straw counter top, I would also get the Berkey for family size filtration but STILL boil if possible first

I agree, that is why I mentioned (possibly in another thread) that I use a low cost ceramic filter (I will try to link to it) and then follow up with treatment. And even that doesn't do everything for everyone, it just works well were I am. To be completely safe, you have to know what you are trying to remove, then work out a plan.
