Reading a lot of prepare as much as possible before the complete collapse posts. What do you think preparation looks for the average American?
-Have a plan B. What will you do if you loose your job and can't find another in your field? Will you take odd jobs? Will you go into another field? Will you move in with family? Will you get roommates?
-Save your money and stop all unneeded spending.
-Stockpile some food. I'm not saying crazy hoard but have some extra on hand at all times. I have about 1 month's worth, 2 if I get super creative. And I'm spending 50 a week on food now.
-Reintroduce yourself to cash if you haven't already. Divorce your credit and debit card.
-It wouldn't hurt to register and get a gun and learn how to use the thing.
-Learn old fashioned basic skills. Sewing, canning, gardening, repairing.

The average American hasn't made any preparations. They are expecting assistance from the government & it won't be forthcoming, at least not in the way that they are expecting.
I'm not sure there is any way to prepare for a doomsday scenario unless you live rural and can grow your own food and provide your own water. I live in an apartment and work in the city....all we can do is go down together. I live my life as though it won't happen....while keeping the knowledge in my heart that it may.
