I caught the first Honey Bee here yesterday against the window and set him free.

A good thing for them at this time is a clean wicking fabric in a dish of sugar water...helps get the hive in high gear early.

Do you have many bees on your cherry tree?

First, stock pile as much food as you can! Gold will be worthless, but, food, will always be a going commodity in any type of disaster.

Guns are great to have, so that you can protect your family. I wouldnt suggest that you go out and rob people like lunatics and risk getting shot, but, protecting your family and your food supply is going to be paramount to your families survival.

May the LORD Bless each of you.

I wish you well...

Jesse

The cherry is so covered in insects in the evening, it looks like the tree is moving. We have seen honey bees. Do you think the sugar water can compete with the cherry tree? The quince is also in full bloom, and looks like it's moving. Pretty soon it with be the Hawthorne and the Multi-floral rose. The bees have lots to eat here this year. They are thankful also that the trees haven't frozen!

The sugar water for the honey bees can never compete with the blossom nutrients. A fellow at WVU, Jim Amrine is big into bees and suggested giving them sugar in the fall and early spring to get them going. Jim has done a lot of research on bees and the diseases that plague them now.

You mentioned Quince. We had a bumper crop and filled the shelves last year with the delightfull jelly and honey. So precious in flavor and so unusal.

I will be surprised if we get any real late-freezing this year.
The weather seems to be going over us to the north and the south winds and temperatures are strong.
I watch the snow storms coming out of Colorado, by the time we get them they are rain.
The Mississippi Valley warm air is doing its job earlier. Good for us.

That's interesting to know about the sugar water for bees!

Has everyone gotten their WVU Extension service garden calendar for this year? You can pick them up at your local extension office, or download off their web site.

There is an interesting article called "Your Garden's Return on Investment". The author talks about how a 50 X 100 foot garden can yield $2021 worth of fresh produce.

Quince jelly? That sounds very good. I'm going to have to try that one!

Quince? If you crossed a strawberry with a pear, you would get Quince.
So very 'old time that it's almost lost to civilization.

Wow! we have gone from the End to Spring beginnings. We will now change the title to Current Hayfever and the Coming Summer..... Should I close this so we can start another? Let me know as we West Virginians are very good at having multiple topic conversations surrounded by one topic with many meanings.

If you close it, can it be referenced for later looks?
